The Girls in ICT initiative of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is a global effort to raise awareness on empowering and encouraging girls and young women to consider studies and careers in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). The initiative is committed to celebrate and commemorate the International Girls in ICT Day on the fourth Thursday of every April as established by International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Since 2011, International Girls in ICT Day has been celebrated in 150 countries around the world with more than 5,300 events and participation of over 177,000 girls and young women. International Girls in ICT Day will next be celebrated on 28 April 2016.
I.B.I Training Centre an innovative human development Centre is partnering with Veritrax Solutions, Media Range ltd and other stakeholders to organize Nigeria’s local Girls-in-ICT day with a target audience of 150 secondary school girls.
Distinguished speakers and panelists will address issues on women professional development, education and mentorship. The event will enable networking and collaboration amongst participants.
