Poem: "Before I Leave" By Dayo Owoyele

Before I Leave This Race
I Must Get To The Steeple,
Before I Leave This Place
I Must Plant My Name In The Hearts Of The People,
Before I Leave This Base
I Must Make Them Know Life Could Be Quite Simple,
Before I Leave This Face
I Must Make It Smile With A Cute Dimple,
My Prayers Were Interrupted
With The Directive; Go There,
Where? Mfhnn There? Yeah!
I Argued With A Look Of Fear,
Go!.. It's Just For A Start Of Your Career,
But To His Words I Know I Must Adhere,
Especially When He's Up There And Sees Clear Than You And I My Dear,
I Came In With White And Green,
Born Greater Than Who Has Ever Been,
With My Heart And Mind Right For The Scene,
Reasons Makes Folks Stare Like I'm On The Screen,
But Before Now I Prayed Not To Pray,
The Heavens Loved The Smell Of My Praises Like A Spray,
Prayed Before Putting On The Mic
Then I Serve What's On My Tray,
To Be Of Service To Humanity And Help One Not To Be A Stray,
Even Though Some Things Are Not Intact,
Like Going Through My Phone To Pick A Contact,
Then Say; Your Excellency Give Me The Contract,
It's My Destiny To Always In Anyways Make A Great Impact,
Now You Even Know The Effects I Have On You Than I Do,
And In All That Comes With It I Must Stay Humble And True,
Not All Could Like Me,Some Think Me Gay Because I Didn't Sleep With Them Too,
But I' Won't Lose Focus But Love To Be Fulfilled When I'm Through,
To Make My Heart Touch Your Heart Is A Pure Blessing,
To Speak And Act Till You Get Better From Good Is A Pure Medicine,
To Do It Over And Over Till It Works To Best Is Worth Stressing,
To Be Proud Of Yourself Then Miss Me When I'm Gone Is Recompensing,
I Wanna Leave You With The Best,
With The Best You That's Greater Than The Rest,
Please Be Greater And Prosperous Than Me That's My Quest,
So One Day You'd Walk Up To Me Then Say; Sir,You're The Reason For This Reason And I'll Hug You Tight To My Chest,
But Before I Leave ......
In You I Must Believe,
With You I Must Achieve,
And To You I Must Give,
Before I Leave This Race
I Must Get To The Steeple,
Before I Leave This Place
I Must Plant My Name In The Hearts Of The People,
Before I Leave This Base
I Must Make Them Know Life Could Be Quite Simple,
Before I Leave This Face
I Must Make It Smile With A Cute Dimple.

Falling Oil Prices: LCCI Advises FG To Cut Spending On Refreshments, Sitting Allowance To Save Nigeria’s Economy

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has called on the Federal Government to put drastic economic measures in place, in order to help the country cushion the effect of falling crude oil prices. The chamber suggested further scrutiny in the way public funds are spent. In a statement by its President, Alhaji Remi Bello, the LCCI commended the Federal Government for the fiscal and monetary policy measures taken so far to stabilise the macroeconomic conditions and minimise dislocations. It however asked that some very important additional measures be taken. The chamber noted that there are several budget heads that need serious scrutiny, such as, consolidated revenue fund charges, service wide votes and presidential amnesty programmes. According to Bello, others are: capital supplementation, debt service, refreshments and meals, foodstuffs and catering, honorarium and sitting allowance, welfare packages, as well as repairs and maintenance. “All these budget heads ha...
