Barring any last minute change, former Head of State, Maj. Gen. Muhamadu Buhari, will on Wednesday October 8, 2014 declare his intention to vie for the All Progressives Party ticket to contest the 2015 presidential election.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that Buhari had resisted entreaty by his close aides to declare his intention earlier. He was said to have told them to hold on until the timetable and guidelines for the party’s primary were released.
The APC has made public the timetable and had also adopted the modified open primary.
Addressing journalists shortly after the APC National Executive Committee meeting on Friday in Abuja, its National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said the party was pleased that many members were interested in flying the party’s flag.
He said, “And we have not put any geographical barrier as to who becomes our presidential candidate. We hope to seize the political space when the candidates come out and this will happen very soon from now.”
"we are not zoning. We want the best candidates to fly our party’s tickets.”
DOES BUHARI STAND A CHANCE?
