Mental health literacy have a major impact on footballing and sports in general. For there is no gain saying that mental disorder affect emotions, relationships, identity and self-esteem. To this end the Mandate health empowerment initiative (MHEI) took it advocacy campaign to COPA Lagos 2016 in continuity of her promotion and interventions action to ensuring safe and supportive environments, healthy living conditions and lifestyles for sports men and women in Nigeria. Speaking at the event, the president of Mandate Health Empowerment Initiative, Mr. Ameh Zion Abbah emphasises the place of mental health holistically as it concerns every professional footballer particularly how it relates to their football career, their family members or relation, personal well being on and off the field. Also he pointed out that depression, anxiety and panic attacks are some of the common mental disorders seen among footballers, suicide and attempted suicide has also been recorded. In

People with mental disorders are exposed to stigma and discrimination within most societies, people with mental disorders face marginalisation, stigma and discrimination in the social, economic and health spheres, due to widespread misconceptions related to mental disorders. This stigma and discrimination usually persists in prison, with the person often facing still further marginalisation and isolation due to imprisonment. For the above reasons the "Mandate Health Empowerment Initiative" (MHEI) today Friday 16th DECEMBER, 2016. Paid a courtesy visit to Nigerian prison service headquarters in Abuja.
